Just to be picky cos it's bugging me: "while being controlled by it's network protocol"

should use "its" - with no apostrophe. This is a possessive pronoun and follows the same pattern as other possessives such as "his" "hers" "ours" "theirs" and "whose". Whereas "it's" is always a contraction of "it is".
